THE REALISATION OF HUMOUR(CHUNATIS PERSPECTIVE)\nIt is customary with the people of chunati to exploit humour in manifold ways since time immemorial.In our very childhood we saw the practice of cracking jokes everywhere. It was mainly prevalent with the elderly people which gradually infected downward. No doubt our predecessors were coarse or crude in practicing this art barring a few. Usually the Bhabi,Nani,Dadi,Beyey,Taltos were the butt of ridicule and their offsprings had to bear onslaught in a very unrefined way. They were not dissatisfied and responded with more volatile way.Some seniors used to handle this art in a very sophisticated and artistic way. We had a natural aptitude for it,we were engrossed from head to toe in it and exerted in both gossing somebody out or refined way.\n We are beset with a multitude of problems now a days as a result our receptor can not work in a sound way. Morever the structure of mindset is not always conducive to imbibe humorous comments in a light or easy way,here lies the problem.\n I express my heartfelt gratitude to Masud Bhai who grasped the uderlying flow of immaculation and awakened to the real situation. I am also grateful to my beloved friend Bacchhu who not only felt the pulse but mastered the subtlety and realising the inflowing significance of it. You both are deeply embedded and stuck the trditinal root of chunati in its true shape or form.Extraordinary brilliance or arduous training of the incumbents promote the notion of human facultys ripeness.\n The main objective of humour or joke is not to make the person directed understand the real thing. The presentation will have to be lively and pragmatic betraying deception.\n Humour is one of the salient feature of our beloved chunati. We have inherited it from our anchestors,Mere cultivating and nurturing it we can repay our innumerable debt to our forefathers. The sole aim of humour or joke is to provide fun and amusement. "আরাঁ চুনতির, সুখে দুঃখে এক্কান্দির " শুরু থেকে আমাদের আয়োজন ছিলো ৩০০জনের। মধ্যখানে সেটা কমে আমরা ২৫০জন আশা করেছিলাম । শেষদিনের আগের দিন যা হলো ৩৮০জন। অনুষ্ঠানের আগের দিন রাতে হলো ৪৫০জন । অনুষ্ঠানের সকালে আমরা বিভিন্নজন থেকে ফোন আর অনুরোধ পেতে থাকি রেজিস্ট্রেশন আর কূপন এর জন্য । যা শেষ হলো ৫০০জনের অধিকএর অংশগ্রহনের মাধ্যমে।মটেল সৈকত এর হল ঘর পরিপূর্ণ হয়ে বাইরে অনেকে ঘুরাঘুরি করছিলো । আবার যারা আগেভাগে রেজিস্ট্রেশন করেছিলো এ ধরনের অনেকে পারিবারিক অন্য কাজ বা বিয়ে সাদি থাকায় অনুষ্ঠানে আসতে পারেনি ।

সুইজারল্যান্ডের একটা ঘটনা বলছিঃ--
রাস্তার পাশে একটি বিড়ালকে পায়খানা করতে দেখে সেপথ দিয়ে যাওয়া সেখানকার এক মন্ত্রী তার গাড়ী থামালেন।
বিড়ালটি মল ত্যাগ করে চলে যাওয়ার পর সেই মন্ত্রী গাড়ী থেকে নামলেন।পকেট থেকে টিস্যু বের করে সেই মলগুলোকে নিজ হাতে ডাস্টবিনে ফেলে এসেছেন.!!অতঃপর হাত ধুয়ে তিনি আবার তার যাত্রা শুরু করলেন।

জাপানের একটা ঘটনা বলছিঃ-
নয় বছরের এক বালক সুনামিতে তার মা-বাবা,ভাই পরিবার সবাইকে হারিয়ে কাঁধতে কাঁধতে সেখানে এক আশ্র‍য় কেন্দ্রে আশ্রয় নিলেন।প্রচন্ড শীত আর ক্ষুধার যন্ত্রনায় ছেলেটি যেনো মারা যাবে অবস্থা।
ভলান্টিয়াররা রুটি বিল করছেন,ছেলেটিও লাইনে গিয়ে রুটির আশায় দাঁড়ালো।এক বিদেশী সাংবাদিক দেখলেন যে পরিমাণ রুটি মজুত আছে সেটা লাইনের সবাইকে পোষাবে না।ছেলেটি হয়ত রুটি পাবে না।সাংবাদিক সাহেব তার ভাগের রুটি দুটো ছেলেটিকে দিয়ে দিলেন।ছেলেটি ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপনের সহিত রুটি গ্রহণ করলো এবং যেখান থেকে রুটি ভাগ হচ্ছে সেখানে গিয়ে জমা দিয়ে আবার লাইনে দাঁড়ালো।
দৃশ্যটি দেখে সাংবাদিক কৌতূহলের সহিত জিজ্ঞেস করলেন---এই কাজ কেনো করলে খোকা?
খোকা উত্তর দিলো--বন্টন তো ওখান থেকেই হচ্ছে।উনাদের হাতে থাকলে সবাই সমান ভাগ পাবে।তাছাড়া লাইনে আমার চেয়ে আরো ক্ষুধার্ত লোক থাকতে পারে।
"সহানুভূতি দেখাতে গিয়ে বন্টনে অসমতা এনেছেন" এই লজ্জায় সাংবাদিক নিজে নিজে অপরাধবোধ করতে লাগলেন।নয় বছরের বাচ্ছার কাছে কি বলে ক্ষমা চাইবেন তার ভাষা হারিয়ে ফেলেছেন।

কাম ট্যু দ্যা পয়েন্টঃ-
দেশ জলাবদ্ধতায় ভরে গেছে।আপনি সরকারকে একটা গালি দিয়ে "উন্নয়নের জোয়ারে ভাসছে বাংলাদেশ" এই বলে একটা উপহাসমূলক স্ট্যাটাস দিয়ে দিলেন।বেস,এখন আপনার কাজ শেষ।
একটু দাঁড়ান,হ্যাঁ আমি আপনাকে বলছি;"বাংলাদেশ" শব্দটা উচ্চারন করতে লজ্জা করেনি আপনার??

আজকে কাঁচাবাজার করে পলিথিনটা কোথায় ফেলেছেন??
প্রেমিক/প্রেমিকার সাথে রোমান্টিংভাবে চিপস খাওয়ার পরে চিপসের খালি প্যাকেটটা কোথায় ফেলেছেন??বাদামের ছোলা কোথায় ফেলেছেন??
আপনি নিজেই তো একটা "জলাবদ্ধতা"!!
যদি জিজ্ঞেস করি ঠিকমত ট্যাক্স আদায় করেছেন,তাহলে কি উত্তর দিবেন??
বাসার ময়লা-আবর্জনা ডাস্টবিনে না ফেলে ড্রেনে অথবা খালে ফেলে এসেছেন কেনো??
ডাস্টবিন চোখে দেখেন নি??
খাওয়ার পরে কলার খোসাটা রাস্তায় নিক্ষেপ করেন কেনো??নির্দিষ্ট জায়গায় ফেলা যায় না??
সিগারেট জ্বালিয়ে দিয়াশলাই এর কাঠি আর সুখটান দিয়ে সিগারেটের পরিত্যাক্ত ফিল্টার অংশটা রাস্তায় না ফেলে নিজের পকেটে জমিয়ে রাখতে পারেন নি??
বলতে পারবেন আজকে অফিসে গিয়ে আপনি ঘুষ নেন নি??দূর্নীতির ফাইলে সাইন করেন নি??

ঢালাওভাবে কথায় কথায় সরকার আর সিটি-কর্পোরেশনকে গালি দিলে জলাবদ্ধতা নিরসন হয় না।দেশটা শুধু সরকারের না,আপনারও।
আমাদের সবাইকে নিয়ে দেশ।
আমরা ১৬ কোটি মানুষ,আমাদের ৩২ কোটি হাত।
এই ৩২ কোটি হাত যদি একদিন দূর্নীতি না করে,একদিন অফিসে ঘুষ না নেই,একদিন কলার খোসা রাস্তায় না ফেলে,খালে অথবা ড্রেনে যেখানে সেখানে ময়লা-আবর্জনা না ফেলে তাহলে দেখবেন মাত্র ১৬ দিনে কিংবা ৩২ দিনে দেশ পাল্টে গেছে।
চলুন প্রত্যেকে নিজ অবস্থান থেকে এগিয়ে আসি।দেশের জন্য দৈনিক অন্তত একটা ছোট ভালো কাজ করি,১৬কোটি মানুষ দৈনিক ১৬ কোটি ভালো কাজ করবে।
একটা দেশকে উন্নয়নের জোয়ারে বাসিয়ে দিতে এর চেয়ে বেশী আর কি লাগে?!!!
আসুন উপহাস না করে ধারণা পাল্টায়,হাতে হাত রেখে একসাথে কাজে-কর্মে বলে উঠি "উন্নয়নের জোয়ারে বেসে উঠুক বাংলাদেশ"।

Mia Md Helal Uddin, my respected Helal bhai was a singer of classical music, a translator, literati and of course a nice gentleman. I had that rare opportunity to witness the live performance of Helal bhai. Helal bhai became Manna Dey when he sang the same, he became someone special with his Gojols, hindi and traditional Bengali songs. A highly popular person, Helal bhai never showed any annoyance to sing in the family get togethers. I will add Kanon apa to commemorate my sweet memories with Helal bhai. Even without the modern instruments Helal bhai sang so beautifully with the only Harmonium because of his year long classical knowledge and God gifted extra ordinary talent. An incomparable personality, Helal bhai entertained us all with his smiling behavior, music and story-telling. I commemorate Helal bhai on this occasion with utmost respect and honour and pray for his soul that rests in peace at his beloved Chunati. Interesting thing is I have one souvenir, a record where Helal bhai and respected Kalu Chacha sang together for us. Hope to share the record soon with you all. Thanks.

To add, we already lost some of the gems who were rarely talented artists born in Chunati. Like Helal bhai we lost a famous lyricist of the country, my Jethabba Umed Ullah Khan. Umed Ullah Khan was a natural poet and lyricist who wrote more than 100 songs and innumerable poems. Umed Jethas songs: Shatkainnatun Noa Bou Ainne, Maijja Beaiyan, O Jeda Foirar Bap, O Fut Sol-became highly popular around the country whose tunes are made by other living legends of Chunati; Jalal Uddin Khan, Naquib Khan etc. Jethabba's song "Shatkainnatun Noa Bou Ainne" was finally sung by distinguished Singer Kumar Bishwajit and telecasted on NTV. Thus Jethabba became a famous lyricist on Chittagonian Folk Songs. Jethabba had lots of unfinished tasks as well. Jethabba always wanted that the younger generation would sing the songs written by him and he would be remembered by the people after his death because of his valuable lyrics. Respect and honour to Umed Ullah Khan from this huge platform-Priyo Chunati.

হেলাল মামার কন্ঠে হেমন্ত মুখোপাধ্যায়ের গান। বার বার রিপিট করে শুনছিলাম। এ যেন হেমন্তই গাইছেন। হেলাল মামার কন্ঠে
হেমন্তকে খোঁজে পেলাম। অপূর্ব কন্ঠ!

'কোথায়, কখন, কবে, কোন্ তারা ঝরে গেল আকাশ কি মনে রাখে।'
হ্যাঁ মামা,আমরা আপনাকে মনে রেখেছি। হেলাল মামা অকালেই ঝরে গেছেন। আমাদের ছেড়ে ওপারে চলে গেছেন অনেক আগে। গান শুনে তাঁকে বেশী করে মনে পড়ল। মনে পড়ছে তাঁর সাথে সেসব স্মৃতিময় দিনগুলো। তাঁর স্মৃতিকে ধরে রাখ্তে তাঁর একটা পুরানো ক্যাসেট প্লেয়ার এখনো সযত্নে সংরক্ষণ করে যাচ্ছি। এখন এটি কাজে অাসে না। বাসায় পুরানো অকেজো জিনিষ ফেলে দেয়া হলেও মামার স্মৃতি বিজড়িত এ ক্যাসেট প্লেয়ারটি ফেলে দিতে পারিনি। হেলাল মামা ছিলেন বন্ধুর মত। এত তাড়াতাড়ি তাঁকে হারাতে হবে কেউ ভাবিনি। আল্লাহ তাঁকে শান্তি দিন।

চমৎকার মনের মানুষ হেলাল মামা অসাধারণ কন্ঠের অধিকারী ছিলেন। শুধু তাই নয় তিনি একজন গীতিকার এবং সুরকারও ছিলেন। আমি আমার জীবনে একটি গান লিখেছিলাম এবং হেলাল মামা সুর করে সেই গানটি রেডিওতে গেয়েছিলেন। এছাড়াও বিভিন্ন সময়ে তিনি আমাদেরকে নিয়ে গানের আসর করতেন। হেলাল মামার সংস্পর্শে যারা এসেছে তারা কখনোই উনাকে ভুলতে পারবেন না।

Mian M Helaluddin was one of the best friends of us. I, Bhulu. Dhalu sometimes Abu Hamed used to visit his house at Barahatia. Our main attraction was age-old Gramaphone he possessed. Jab DIL hI TOT GAYE MAIN JIKE KYE KARENGE(k l saigal) and MAA AMAR SHAD NA MITILA ASHA NA PURALA(PANNALAL BHATCHARYA) and other songs provided us immense pleasure. We were regular visitors of respected Ahmadu mama and Hatem Baddas house with Helal. Mami(Ahmadu mami) was very affectionate to us, Istill recollect her motherly hospitality with respect. We arranged ganer ashar where Helal was the sole singer with the affectionate and motherly watch of Sadhu Khala who entertained us to our hearts content. There was also night halt off and on. Helal took up the profession of a teacher like I at the early stage of life.We both were lecturer in the same time(he seved chunati Madrasa I M.E.S college and Ahamadia Sunniah Madrasa simultaneaously) Helal wasoutspoken and independent natured man who could not cope up with the existing circumstances of chunati Madrasa. He gave up the job and joined another institution.
Helal had few friends and we were very intimate( I, BHULU, ABUHAMED, DHALU etc)
He visited my training institute in Shahbag and spent the night there with respected Syed Ahmed nana(his mama). Lethal cancer has snached away my beloved friends life, I still mourn for him while any song sung by him enters my ear. Iearnesly pray for the salvation of my dear friend/mama.

হেলাল মামার দুই ছেলে। বড় জন পল্লব। CUET এ Electrical & Electronics Engineering এ BSC পড়ছে। এবার ফাইনাল ইয়ারে আছে। খুব মেধাবী একটা ছেলে। আর ছোট ছেলে পর্ণব Chittagong University তে Applied Chemistry তে Honors করছে। এখন Second Semester এ আছে। দোয়া করবেন ওদের।

সালাম ও শ্রদ্ধা আপনাকে আরও একবার।

আমি প্রিয় বন্ধু ও মামা মরহুম হেলালের মাগফিরাত কামনা করছি মহান আল্লাহর কাছে। সে ছিল এক অসাধারণ প্রতিভাবান শিল্পী যার সাথে কয়েকটি ঘরোয়া আসরে গাণ গাওয়ার সুযোগ আমার হয়েছিল,চুনতির একজন সংস্কৃতি প্রেমী সন্তান হিসেবে; তবে তার মত অত উঁচু মানের শিল্পী হিসেবে অবশ্যই নয়।

May Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala Grant late Helal Bhai Jannah Ameen. Helal Bhai was undoubtedly a great artist with versatile attributes. But Badar Bhai (elder brother of Helal bhai) is another great artist. He is well known specially for his famous song "poran hander poran hander bia loiber lai ......". I think young folks are as well familiar with him and his attributes.

হেলাল মামার বড় ভাই বদর মামাও (মিয়া মোহাম্মদ বদর উদ্দিন) একজন গুণী সংগীত শিল্পী। তিনি বেঁচে আছেন। স্বাধীনতাত্তোর সময়ে তাঁর একটি জনপ্রিয় আন্চলিক গান 'পরাণ হাঁদের পরাণ হাঁদের বিয়া লইবল্লাই, হার বউয়া যে হনেরে দিব হালা মূ্খকান চায়' লোককন্ঠে ধ্বনিত হতো। গানটি ছিল গ্রামের মানুষের মূখে মূখে। তখন বিয়েশাদী বা কোন অনু্ষ্ঠানে (চুনতির বাইরে) গানটি গ্রামাফোনে মাইকে বাজানো হতো। এরকম আরো দু'একটি গান ছিল তাঁর।

হেলাল মামা পেশা হিসেবে শিক্ষকতাকে বেছে নিয়েছিলেন। যদি ভুল না হয় তিনি ইংরেজীতে মাষ্টারস ছিলেন। মেধাবী হিসেবে বিসিএস এ কোয়ালিফাই হয়েছিলেন। কিন্তু সরকারী চাকুরীতে যোগ দেননি। তাঁর সহপাঠি ও বন্ধু বান্ধবদের অনেকেই এখন অনেক বড় আমলা। কেউ কেউবা হয়তো রিটায়ার্ডও করে ফেলেছেন। একবার তাঁকে বলেছিলাম এত প্রতিভা, যোগ্যতা থাকা সত্বেও কেন গ্রামে পড়ে আছেন। হেঁসে জবাব দিয়েছিলেন, " আমি সাধারণ মানুষ, গ্রামের মানুষের কাছাকাছি থাকতে পছন্দ করি। চুনতিকে ভালবাসি।" সত্যিই তাঁর স্বল্পকালীন জীবনের বেশীর ভাগ সময়ই তিনি চুনতিতে কাটিয়েছেন। গ্রামের তরুণ যুবকদের নিয়ে সময় কাটানো, গান বাজানা করে আসর জমানো ছিল তাঁর কাজ। ছাত্রদের পড়ানোর পাশাপাশি লেখালেখি, গান বাজনা করতেন আর রস আড্ডায় মেতে উঠতেন। অত্যন্ত বিনয়ী এবং উদার মনের মানুষ ছিলেন হেলাল মামা। তাঁর অভাব পূরণ হওয়ার মত নয়।

As a continuation of the reminiscences of Dulal, Faruque, Minhaz, Alamgir, Ashique, Saiful, Amir and many others about our friend Helal, I would like to share my memories with him. Our friend Bhulu introduced me with Helal at a gathering (Adda) at Bhulu's house. On our request he sang some songs. The first song was - Tasveer Banata Hun, Tasveer Nehi Banti - Ek Khab Sa Dekha Hun, Ta'veer Nehi Banti. It was one of Talat Mahmud's famous songs. It seemed to me that Helal's voice was even sweeter than that of Talat Mahmud. That was the beginning of my friendship with Helal, although I wasn't as intimate as Bhulu, Dulal or Dhalu were.

Helal was a great singer. He was gifted with a honey rich voice which hypnotized the audience. Besides, he was very simple, amiable and friendly. He was also shy and sometimes bashfully avoided to take part in our childhood misdeeds. He was cool, soft spoken and carried a smiling face always.

His loss was very premature. May he rest in peace.

Many many thanks my dear brother Ashique for appreciation and gratitude. Bachchu has rightly observed Helals melodious tone may be compared to SURSAGAR JAGONMOY MITRA. Helals another favourite song was( jindagi me ek pal bhi chain aye na is jahamein kashekoin dil lagaye na, TALAT MAHMOOD. Apart from Talat Mahmood he was very apt and at ease with singing songs of HEMANTA, MANNA, MANABENDRA, SUBIR SEN, SHYAMAL etc. Abedin has sketched helals character in a holistic way,it admits of no further depiction. Another Helal(Helaluddin md ALAMGIR) was natural singer the fact was unknown to me.Alamgir(my brother) whom Iknow is noted for donation anyway JE RADHE SE CHHOL O BANDE.
Brother Ashique who am to bless my revered mami she is among afew who still address me TOI KEMAN ACHISH. tinged with heartfelt affection persons are reducing to a great etent. Do please tell her to keep me in her prayer and blessing.

Dear brother Faroque would you please leave your sychophancy and habit of appeasing others in an unjustified way?He has clearly admitted his childhood misdeeds who are you to absolve him from charges. This is not Islamic jurisprudence this is criminal jurisprudence when a person admits guilt he is liable to be punished with lesser severe punishment. Please keep in mind that our AHLE ROY UPHOLDER OF JUDGEMENT) Imam- e-azam Hazarat Abu Hanifa(ra) preferred death in jail rather than taking up the profession ofQazi as he will not be in a position to mete out proper justice.
