In Memoriam

From time to time a glowing chapter

Lost names must have rooms in story

The heroes who braved and toiled

To create an untold glory

Half saint half human they cared no odds

And made our villages name

Reverberate and haunt from pole to pole

A widening whisper of fame !

But had their ways for all their days

Been set in lands apart,

Straitened and pent with never a vent

For mighty brains and heart

These very men, Perhaps might then

Have joined the nameless throng

Who wage endless war against social vices

But win no name in song
